Parent & Saucon Graduate Announces Candidacy for Director of Saucon Valley School Board

Updated: Mar 15

LOWER SAUCON TOWNSHIP – J. Barrett Geyer of Lower Saucon Township has formally announced his candidacy for School Director, Saucon Valley School District, in the 2025 election.

In making his announcement, Geyer said, “As a lifelong resident of our community, as a graduate of Saucon, and now as a parent of kids in the district, I want to give back to my alma mater by serving as a school director”.

Geyer’s motivation for stepping forward to run is his belief that parents are a vital part of the public school system. He plans to bring that ‘parental perspective’ to district planning and decision making.

"As a graduate of Saucon, it’s important to me that the next generation of Panthers get the same quality education and memorable school experience that I received".

On what the Board’s primary goal should be, Geyer believes “the goal should be to create a safe and effective educational environment that inspires a passion for lifelong learning, while also providing students with a solid framework for critical, analytical, and emotional problem solving”.

His platform will have three main areas of focus:

PARENTAL & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT – Dedicated to increasing parental and community involvement in decision-making and fostering stronger relationships with Lower Saucon & Hellertown to create a more unified experience for students and the community.

EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE – Ensuring Saucon schools deliver a challenging and appropriate curriculum that prepares and inspires students, fosters a passion for lifelong learning, and helps them to reach their full individual potential.

COST-CONSCIOUS SPENDING – Balancing exceptional district quality and value with affordable property taxes, while exploring innovative solutions to continue investing in Saucon schools without unnecessary financial burden to the community.

Geyer resides in Lower Saucon Township with his wife, Nancy and their two daughters. Professionally, he is currently a Project Marketing Manager for one of the largest Autodesk Platinum Partners in the U.S. He has more than 17 years of negotiation, budgetary, and management experience that he will bring with him in serving the district.

He is currently serving as a member of the Saucon Valley School District Mission & Branding Committee and previously served on the school's Communications Committee. He was an appointed member of the Lower Saucon Township Parks & Recreation committee in 2023 and has been an elected Northampton County Republican Committee member since 2022.

He and his wife are both members of Christ Lutheran Church (Hellertown) and are both involved with the 'Friends of the Hellertown Area Library' and the community’s “Blessing Box” effort. Barrett holds a B.A. in Business Management from Moravian College (Bethlehem, PA).
